So first of all, thanks alot for even getting this far and reading my blog :) My main reason for me starting this blog is for the simple reason of what I think is an unfair dismissal from a temporary contact by my former employee..I suffer with epilepsy and have since the age of 11 however I have tried my best to never let my illness get me down although sufferers will know already it sometimes isn't just that simple!! Anyway, lets get to the point!! So I started the job on the 5th of August 2013 this first week was just training however the next week I went into work and had a seizure in which an ambulance had to be called and this was very embarrassing for me to be honest as I wet myself and did abit of other damage in front of my new work colleagues anyway the next week I then had another at work however I was outside not in front of everyone so I kind of felt less embarrassed..what I didn't realise is exactly a week later I would be pulled into an office and told my contract would be terminated with immediate affect because of the time I'd had off when I went to hospital and basically they needed to know I would be reliable and not have time off due to illness. This to me is an unfair dismissal and even a discrimation against my disability and all I've got for this is one weeks notice!! It's a disgrace!! Anyway I'm going to seek legal advise tommorow ill keep you informed :) Thanks for reading, Kierlan

I understand this completely. I've had a lot of time off work due to seizures (and due to seizures in work for which ambulances have been called) and my employer is currently reviewing the situation. They say they might not be able to "sustain my absence". It sucks.

Ye it's pretty fucked up if we're saying it how it really is..people are being unfairly treated just because of something they can't control, especially when the company know you are epileptic. Its a disgrace
DeleteIt's horrible when you have no control over it but are expected to be like everyone else.
